520: Defend Love with Precision — GenDx’s Rigorous Testing Safeguards a Lifetime of Togetherness

updated time:2026-05-21

"520" phonetically resembles "I love you" in Chinese, making it a popular date for couples to register their marriage and embark on a lifelong journey together.

Marriage is widely regarded as the culmination of love, and premarital examination serves as an exclusive safety pass to this blissful milestone.

Since the abolition of mandatory premarital examinations in 2003, the popularity of premarital check-ups has never returned to its peak. However, public health awareness has surged, and with growing openness toward diseases like HIV and syphilis (replacing blind panic and avoidance), an increasing number of newlyweds proactively opt for premarital examinations, reflecting a positive shift in health consciousness.

Still, many couples remain confused after completing their premarital exams—having undergone blood tests and physical checks, they lack clarity on what was tested and the key focus areas.

1.     Premarital Examination Items

Let’s break down the three core components of premarital examinations for a clear understanding:

✅Consultation & Medical History Review: Discussion of past medical conditions and provision of pre-conception guidance for future family planning.

✅Gender-Specific Physical Examination: Thorough assessment of physical health to establish a baseline for both partners.

✅Comprehensive Blood Screening: Full coverage of routine blood/urine tests, liver and kidney function, hepatitis B, HIV, and syphilis—eliminating hidden health risks in relationships.

Key Highlight ✨

In many regions, essential screenings for HIV and syphilis are neither free nor mandatory, yet they are the top priority for safeguarding marital health.

Take HPV testing, a widely discussed screening, as an example. Conventional commercial assays have significant technical limitations

❌ Most standard kits only cover 14–18 common high-risk HPV genotypes, missing rare and low-prevalence high-risk subtypes—leading to high false-negative rates.

❌ Limited fluorescence channels restrict conventional instruments to detecting only a few subtypes per reaction, making simultaneous multiplex detection of over 20 subtypes impossible.

❌ High risk of sample contamination: Aerosol spread and pipette cross-contamination often cause false-positive results post-amplification, triggering unnecessary patient anxiety.

2.     Technical Advantages

Previously, we introduced the gravity-driven wax-in-water microsphere one-pot WS-CRISPR detection platform. This technology encapsulates Suzhou GenDx’s ERA (i.e., RPA) lyophilized reagents inside wax spheres and CRISPR reagents outside. Through precise temperature control (40°C for amplification, 45°C for wax melting and reagent release), amplification and CRISPR detection are automatically completed in a single tube. It enables multiplex detection of all 14 high-risk HPV subtypes within 30 minutes, with a detection limit of 1×10⁻¹⁸ M. Clinical validation demonstrates 97.4% sensitivity and 100% specificity. Compatible with standard PCR tubes, portable devices, and microfluidic chips, it is ideal for large-scale rapid pathogen screening at the primary care level.

ERA (Exponential Rapid Amplification) ultra-amplification technology features rapidity, isothermal operation, and ease of use. As documented in the reference, Suzhou GenDx’s ERA lyophilized reagents operate optimally at 37–42°C, perfectly matching the optimal temperature of most CRISPR systems—making it an ideal pairing for CRISPR-based diagnostics.

3.     Summary

Suzhou GenDx’s basic nucleic acid amplification kits enable innovative detection workflows and diverse applications. When integrated with the GCP-30 professional detection platform (combining microfluidic technology and ERA ultra-amplification), it achieves full coverage of 20 HPV subtypes and 10 common genital tract pathogens, delivering results in just 20 minutes. This solution empowers diagnostic laboratories to develop time-efficient, labor-saving, and highly accurate women’s health screening assays, firmly establishing the first line of defense for marital health and safeguarding the lifelong happiness of every couple.
